James Ray McLamb

James Ray McLamb was born 24 July 1955 in Little River, South Carolina and died 19 October 2017 at the Lower Cape Fear Hospice in Wilmington, North Carolina. He is survived by his mother Alice Beal, sister Joanne George both of Wilmington , and brother Ralph Beal of Kenansville, North Carolina. When James was a young child, his parents were divorced. Not having a father to guide him left a void in his life. His mother worked long hours to support her small family while grandparents, aunts, and uncles took care of James and his sister. James was a kind and sweet little boy who needed a lot of love. He was always very helpful to his mother. He tried to get along with everybody. However, not having a strong father figure in his life, he made mistakes. James was a follower not a leader. Choosing wrong friends lead him to demons and alcoholism. James married Linda , the love of his life. They were married 15 years. They had no children together. Both James and Linda had a love for art. James could make, paint, or draw anything. They used their artful talents to support themselves. When Linda died of colon cancer, James became a solitary man. He would sometimes sleep in the woods. James moved back to Little River, South Carolina a few years ago. It had been over 2 years since he had seen his mother. Last week, James was found collapsed on a street in Little River. He was immediately taken to the hospital. After being diagnosed with liver cancer and kidney failure, he asked to go home. Hospice in Little River brought him to Lower Cape Fear Hospice in Wilmington, North Carolina where he would reunite with his elderly mother who greeted him with loving arms. He was able to tell her he loved her and she him. James would die a few days later in Hospice. His spirit will always be with those who loved him and remember him for his kind soul.
